Christmas plans

Christmas time is here again!  First of all, thanks to all those who participated in the poll this past week.  It was fun to hear some of your thoughts and opinions.  I will let you know what ends up being the verdict.

We are 11 days away from Christmas eve.  Austin and I will be flying to Orlando, Florida to visit his family for the holidays.  I have never been back east so it will be a really fun adventure.  We hope to go to Disney World and the ocean... at least those are two things on my to do list.  We will see what ends up happening ( I will be fine with anything).

School is winding down.  I have three finals in a row next week, (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).  This is the first semester that Austin has had more presentations than finals.  I think he told me he has 2 finals and 3 presentations.  It'll be nice when school is done because then we will have more time to be with one another.

For Georgia's Christmas present we are getting a picture of us that we think she will like and framing it.  The other day I asked her "what do you get someone who has everything?". She first said love and then she said that she likes pictures.  So the one above is a picture we had my old roommate take of us.  We had some very nice pictures turn out but after much deliberation we decided to go with an old favorite (below) from our Seattle trip because we felt like it would work better year round (its not Christmassy) and that Georgia would appreciate it more because it shows more who we are (fun, loving and adventurous).

Well, I guess that's a wrap!  Till next time!

I am polling the audience!

Well, here we are in December already. Life is just flying by! Luckily we have all of our Christmas presents done. We just have a few last minute things to do but all in all we are doing good. School is our main focus with finals coming up quick. This semester has really been great. We have both had a lot of time to focus on our studies and make the most of it. Next semester will be interesting. Austin will still have his full load of classes and I will only have two classes (technically 3 counting my online class).
Ok, here is the deal. I am polling the audience... I expect everyone to participate that reads this post, it is very crucial! (ok, maybe not that important but do it because you love me)... Anyways, I have been debating what future schooling or career would be best for me and our little families future (no, we're not pregnant, just trying to plan ahead). The more I look into different options the more options I find! Here is a list of the current options on my mind: physical therapy (great career but full time school for 3 solid years... it would be difficult with kids), exercise science masters program (2 yr part time program and I could teach at a community college level), Fitness Instructor (could start right away but first I have to specialize in something... like pilates),  and (yes I know its out there) MBA (a part of me likes the idea of the business world but its something I don't know much about so it would be a whole new realm... scary but exciting). I want to see what you think, which option would you choose if you were in my shoes? (don't worry, I am not basing my decision on what you say, its just a fun thing to know what you think).
I will try to post a poll on the right hand side of the blog.  Check it out.

Day with the Girls

First of all, we had a great Thanksgiving. We went to my brothers house and had a very nice time. On Friday I was able to spend time with some of my "older" nieces; Joslin (11), Hannah (8), and Camille (5) (Jada (5) was in Arizona, we were sad to miss her). We had a day full of Christmas decorating, nail painting, and hair doing while we rocked out to the High School Musical Concert DVD. Our apartment looks great and the girls practically did everything (we decided that we should do this more often, less work for us)! It was a great time, we caught up on some girl talk and, of course, we decided that Corbon Bleu was the cutest boy off of High School Musical and that he should be Joslin's "pretend" boyfriend. Hannah and Camille showed me some of their crazy dance moves and let me paint their fingernails. Joslin gave me a french pedicure... she has this nifty little kit that has a white marker that you use to put the tips on and I gave her a regular pedicure with a cute little flower. Anyways, we hung out for about 5 hours. I think that the girls had a good time... I know I did!

Quiet Time

So here I am at 3:30 in the morning with a runny nose. I fell asleep at 9pm last night (which is really early for me). I woke up around 2 am this morning and couldn't sleep anymore. I don't really feel sick but my nose will not stop running! I took some medicine and I am just waiting for it to kick in. Since I couldn't sleep I decided to use this time to bake the crusts for the two chocolate cream pies I am making for tomorrow (don't worry I washed my hands after each time I blew my nose). (I have decided that google is my new best friend. Whenever I need a recipe I just google it and there it is! So much easier than searching through a cook book!) anyway, the pie crusts turned out pretty good. One of them looks a little thick, but I don't think you can go wrong with just a little more chocolate. We will be spending Thanksgiving at Troy's house in Orem, just a few minutes away. I am excited to be with family and to join in the Cox's festivities. It's always a party when you go over there... Great food, friends, and fun! (I should be in advertising)!

To tell you the truth being up late at night with no one else around and nothing to really do is fairly peaceful. It gives me time to think about life and how truly thankful I am for the many blessings I have. Heavenly Father really looks out after us and blesses us tremendously. I hope that this Thanksgiving we can all take the time to realize our blessings and thank those that have made those blessings possible. I know that I am blessed by having great friends and family... thank you all for being great examples to me!! I love you guys!... (even you Justin, and yes, I know I am corny).

Cute lil' kids

The past couple of days we have had Becky, my sister, and her 11 month old daughter, Sariah, staying with us. It has been so much fun! Today Austin and I watched Sariah for a couple of hours and could not get over how cute she was. The best part was when we were trying to put her to sleep for her nap. We had her on the bed and Austin and I were on both sides of her. We turned on some music, thinking it would calm her down... boy we were wrong! She started head banging and laughing so hard, she was having a blast. She would then roll until she bonked Austin in the head and start giggling and then roll back and do the same to me! It was so fun! Finally we decided to set her in her crib and leave so that she would fall asleep. (We knew she was tired because she would periodically yawn and suck her thumb but then try to do all she could to stay awake by rolling around and dancing). She wasn't too happy when we left but ended up falling asleep fairly quickly. All in all, being around such cute kids gives me the baby bug! (There's no telling what may happen! ... nothing has happened yet so don't get any crazy ideas!)

Beautiful Season!

About a month ago we went on a hike up to some hot springs in Spanish Fork. It was a beautiful Fall day. Our friend Jake Beck took some amazing pictures of the scenery as well as of us!!

My Hair

Over the weekend I got bored so I dyed my hair... I seem to like doing that. Anyways, I told Stacy I would post a picture... so here it is before I forget! (to see a before shot look at the Halloween section with the picture of Georgia and I)

Life

Well, I thought that I would take a moment just to catch up on everything that has happened lately. Since we got back from selling security this past summer in Colorado we have been going to school. Austin is in a "capstone" class which is a class where he gets real world experience in the mechanical engineering field. His group (consisting of four guys) were given the challenge to build a fully automated process to apply rubber around the edges of Mercedes windshields as well as other well known vehicles. The company has given them a budget to work with and the school has given them a timeframe. They have to be finished by April (graduation). He is also in an entrepreneur class and is helping write a business plan for a man starting up a business. All in all he stays very busy and is at school most of the day. I work with Georgia every morning. I usually wake her up at 7 am and help her get going. She works out in her spa while I water plants, fetch the newspaper/mail, do some ironing/laundry, and just whatever else she needs done. (We have a pretty good routine down). All in all we get along well and I have grown to appreciate age more and more as I understand the effects that it can have to our bodies. After hanging out with her (usually around 10 am) I head off to school. Depending on the day school keeps me busy until 2 Pm or 6 Pm. After that I go to work at one of the various places I work. Right now I am balancing three very part time jobs; 4H after school program (two days a week I teach a Fun & Fitness class), SOS Physical Therapy clinic (just whenever I have the time), and activity support at BYU (usually just on the weekends). And lastly I help Georgia get ready for bed every night... after Perry Mason (the old attorney TV series) of course.

One of my professors and I just received funding to start a research project at school. He is letting me head it up so I am very excited. It will be great experience! (If any of you are between the ages 20-35 and are in Utah and would like to be a subject then let me know! We are giving $20 gift cards to those that participate). :)

Well, I guess I should go do some homework. My mom and sister are coming to town this weekend for "Girls Week". I am very excited to hang out with them so I better go get some things done. :)

Halloween

Halloween was tons of fun. Austin and I carved some pumpkins with our friends John and Jessica. On Halloween, Georgia (our land lady), Austin and I ordered pizza and passed out candy. I dressed up as a SWAT girl and was the official candy hander-outer. Georgia loves to buy the big candy bars so I got quite the work out by holding all the candy bars in a big bowl half the night! Troy, Heidi and family stopped by in their super cute outfits! It was great to see them!

October

Besides school and all that jazz we were able to do some celebrating for my birthday. Austin had one of our friends make this awesome cake. The girl that did the cake has a website. Feel free to check it out:

Summer in Colorado

Well, our time here in Colorado is coming to an end. We are slowly packing up and getting ready for the move back to Utah. We are both finishing up this last week of work and seem to keep moving up our departure date. We were originally going to move on Sunday but now it looks more like Friday, the 24th. We are very grateful for my brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Heidi, and their willingness to put up wiith us staying with them for three nights! I cannot even begin to describe how happy I will be to see family again!
On the 27th we are flying out to Seattle to visit Austin's sister, Jennifer. She is married and has two children. We are excited to hang out with them! Austin's two younger brothers, Warren and Ross, and his dad are going to be there as well. We are all going to pitch in and help lay down new tile flooring in Jennifer's kitchen.
So, in closing I just want to say that living in Colorado has been a wonderful experience. I love being married to a man who works hard and is not afraid to experience new things. I know that this is just the beginning of many adventures that we will have!

So this is just to show how bored I get at nights when I am waiting for Austin to get home!! I did my hair with buns all over! It took me a while but it was more fun than cleaning!! :)
